چکیده

A coherent train of identical Linear-FM pulses is a popular radar signal, mainly due to its good range and Doppler resolution. One of its drawbacks is the relatively high autocorrelation function (ACF) sidelobes. We show how to completely remove most of the sidelobes by diversifying the pulses through overlaying them with orthogonal coding. The technique applies to any other type of pulses – analog or digital.

Pulse-Diverse Radar/Sonar FSK-PSK Waveform Design to Emphasize/De-emphasize Designated Doppler-Delay Sectors

This paper explores how pulse-diverse modulation of an FSK-PSK modulated pulse train enhances exibility to shape the size and distribution of the pulse train's ambiguity volume on the Doppler-delay plane. Pulse-diverse modulation compresses each pulse in the pulse train di erently. Based on a priori information of the relative criticality of various Doppler-delay regions, (e.g., the presence of...

Discrete Frequency and Phase Coding Waveform for MIMO Radar

In multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar system, good orthogonality between transmitting waveforms will fairly simplify the signal processing, along with improve the targets detection as well as the parameters estimation performance of the system. In this paper, a discrete frequency and phase coding waveform (DFPCW), which attains good orthogonality by varying the carrier frequency and initial ...

A Method of a Spread-Spectrum Radar Polyphase Code Design

In this paper, a new method of pulse compression polyphase code synthesis based on the aperiodic autocorrelation function properties and the assumption of coherent processing in the radar receiver is presented. Properties of the proposed code, including spectrum, ambiguity function, precompression bandlimiting effects, and the noise/clutter influence are analyzed. The main features of the synth...

Fourphase Pulse Compression Sequences Generated using Chaotic Maps

Sequences with good correlation properties are in general required in various applications such as radar, sonar, spread spectrum and multiple access communication. The optimal sequences are the ones whose peak sidelobe of the aperiodic autocorrelation function is the minimum possible for a given sequence length. A chaotic sequence that provides auto and cross-correlation properties that are sim...

Waveform Design and Generalized Ambiguity Function for Ultrawideband Nonsinusoidal Signals

The classical theory of radar resolution is based on narrowband sinusoidal waveforms and cannot directly be applied to ultrawideband (UWB) impulse radar. The concept of a generalized ambiguity function, which is a two-dimensional autocorrelation function in the range-Doppler domain, was first introduced by Harmuth in 1981 as a convenient design tool for the performance analysis of carrier-free ...
